Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

It's that time again...

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is easily one of my favorite sales of the year.

This year, my budget doesn't allow for the type of all-out shopping spree my heart desires, so I had to limit my purchases (bummer).

Here are the items I have purchased so far:

1. Nike Juvenate Sneaker

The second I saw these, I knew I had to have them. I am big on floral patterns, and the subtle black, white, and grey tones on these bad boys make then fun yet wearable. These are definitely going to be a fall staple.

2. Hard Tail Roll Waist Bootleg Flare Pants

I have a serious love/hate relationship with these pants. I have been purchasing this same pair of pants for the past 7 years, and have had to replace them once a year because they rip in the thigh area.  But, until I find another pair of yoga pants that fit me as well my Hard Tails, I'm willing to bite the bullet and continue repurchasing them.

3. Silk'n 'Flash&Go Freedom' Hair Remover Device

I have been dying to try out an at-home laser hair removal device, but couldn't justify shelling out $300+ for something that may or may not work. After reading the reviews on this item (and seeing the sale price of $147.99), I knew I had to try it out. I only plan on using this on my underarms, where my hair is jet black and my skin is very fair. I will definitely update y'all on my results after my first few treatments.

I may make a few more trips to Nordstrom before the sale is over, and I'll be sure to update this post if I do.

What were your favorite Anniversary Sale purchases?

VoxBox Alert

This past week, I was selected to receive the Goddess VoxBox from Influenster. If you don’t know what Influenster is, you’re missing out. The quick break down is this- you sign up on the website, link your social media accounts, write reviews on just about anything, and become eligible to receive free boxes filled with all sorts of goodies for you to try out in exchange for you honest opinions.

Who can say no to free stuff?!

While the Goddess VoxBox isn’t the first box I’ve received from Influenster, it is definitely one of my favorites. I'll talk about the products I received in a little more detain below.

This is what came inside my Godess VoxBox:

1. Downy Fresh Protect Beads

This is an in-wash odor shield- essentially, deodorant for clothes. I wasn’t sure about these things, but I threw a packet in my washing machine with my gym clothes, and was pretty happy with the result. They definitely live up to their name, and my clothes smelled awesome after. I even put some beads in my sneakers that smelled awful (I know that's not how this product is meant to be used), but I could not believe what a difference it made. I'm deffinitely a fan!

2. Cutex Advanced Revival Nail Polish Remover Pads

These are just individual packages of on-the-go nail polish remover wipes. I haven’t tried them out yet, but I am always forgetting to take off my chipped polish, so I love the concept. I’m not sure how well these will  remove darker nail polish colors, but I am excited to try them out!

3. Pantene Expert Extra Hydration Shampoo and Conditioner

Let me start of by saying that my hair is VERY dry, so I love trying any and all new hydrating shampoos/conditioners. I am usually not a big Pantene fan, but I was surprisingly impressed with this duo. While it’s not hydrating enough to become a permanent staple in my summer hair care routine, I have high hopes that this will be a great set for my less dry "winter hair."

4. SinfulColors Kylie Jenner Trend Matters Satin Collection Nail Polish

I have more nail polish than the average nail salon- no joke. However, I am not a big fan of the recent matte nail polish trend. Despite that, I gave this nail polish a shot, and LOVE the color (Cheshire China). It is the perfect lavender that goes with just about anything. I added a shiny top coat, and my mani is perfect!

5. Dickenson’s Advanced Which Hazel Hydrating Toner

My skin is incredibly oily, and even "oil control" products  make it considerably worse. This toner, for me, is a happy medium. I’m not sure if it’s the which hazel, but something about this toner helps keep the oil at bay for at least an hour longer than any other toner I’ve tried. It doesn’t sound like a huge improvement, but when you’re dealing with skin as greasy as mine, any improvement at all is reason to celebrate.

6. Ebates Activation Code

I was signed up for ebates before I received this activation code, and, like most people, I was skeptical at first. Any site that promises cash back for shopping at my favorite online stores sounds way too good to be true. But, to all of the skeptics out there- I have been using Ebates for about a year now, and have made $90. And, yes, they send you a check in the mail. It doesn’t sound like much, but money is money!

You can sign up for Ebates HERE

7. Tampax Radiant Always Collection Pads

I am not a pad person, so these will be going to a friend to try out.

.................................................................

Again, these products were all sent to me completely free to test, in exchange for my honest opinion.

What are you waiting for? Sign up now!

What I Got for Christmas

Guilty pleasure: I love watching those "what I got for Christmas" youtube videos.

I don't know what it is about them, but they are so addicting. Since I can't be the only one who is interested in these types of posts, I figured why not share my own Christmas gifts (and it doesn't hurt that, if anyone is interested, a bunch of these things are now on sale).

So let's get right into it- here is what I received for Christmas this year:

I am also so unbelievably blessed and very grateful for everything that I received.

What were your favorite Christmas gifts?

Practical Bags for Traveling

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love to travel.

Weekend getaways, traveling across the country, trips across the globe.. you name it, I'm in.

Over the years, I have narrowed my list of "favorite travel bags" down to my top 4, and I thought I'd share them with you.

Here they are:

1. The North Face Borealis Women's Backpack- This is easily the most comfortable backpack I have ever owned. There is a place for my laptop, ample padding on the back, and a crazy-big front pocket. This is the backpack that I use for school, but also find it to be a great bag to travel with because no matter how many items I stuff inside, it is still incredibly comfortable to carry.

2. Vera Bradley Large Duffle- I can't say enough good things about this bag. No matter how many times I travel with this duffle, I still can't wrap my mind around how so many things can fit inside. I recently went on a trip and fit 6 outfits, 3 pairs of shoes, two huge cosmetic bags, my ipad, 5 cardigans, a sweatshirt and enough food/water bottles to last me a week. The best part- this bag is surprisingly comfortable to carry, even with all of the things I put inside.

3. Louis Vuitton Neverfull Tote- This always has been and always will be my go-to traveling purse. I have the medium size, and used it in college to lug my books back and forth from class to class (and let me tell you, the straps are not as flimsy as they look). What I love about this bag is that the sides can be cinched on days when you don't have as much to carry, or just want a different look. The classic Louis Vuitton Monogram goes with everything, and I find myself reaching for this bag more than any other bag I own.

4. L.L. Bean Boat and Tote- I currently own 2 of these bags- the medium size with long handles without the zipper closure, and the large size with long handles with the zipper closure (of course both are monogrammed)- and I absolutely love them both. The large size is great for traveling (think weekend trip), while the medium size is perfect for school or as a carry on. These bags are literally indestructible, but if something does happen to your bag, L.L. Bean will take care of it at no cost to you, no questions asked.

What are your favorite bags to travel with?

What's in my Purse: 9-5 Edition

I am the queen of overpacking.

I don't care if I'm going on a weekend trip, or a trip to the drugstore- you name it, I have it on me. While I'll admit that I can do without most of the things I carry in my purse on weekends, weekdays are an entirely different story. I work a 9-5 desk job (although lately it's been more of a 9-7),  and I thought I would share what I've deemed as my "essentials" that I bring with me on a daily basis:

Let me start of my saying that I've tried carrying a billion different bags with me to work over the years, and I've found that my Longchamp Le Pliage (the large size) is by far my favorite. It holds everything I need and more without being bulky, and can even carry an extra sweater or rain coat on days when I'm not willing to gamble with Boston's unpredictable weather.

What do you keep in your everyday/work bag?

Pretty & Practical: The City Shoe Edition

While I am a huge fan of heels, walking around a big city in sky-high pumps every day just isn't practical (believe me- I've tried.. I even have the blisters to show for it).

Working (and of course shopping) in Boston comes with a whole lot of walking, and I've put together a list of a few pairs of my go-to shoes that I've found myself reaching for the most while living in the city:

Tory Burch, Reva flats- I cannot say enough good things about these shoes. I bough my first pair my freshman year of college, and still wear Reva's to work almost daily. They're a little pricey, but so worth it in my opinion.

Jack Rogers, Navajo Flats- My go-to summer sandal for 4 years now. Practical, versatile, and comfortable.

Rainbow flip-flops- My summer beach staple- and they sure beat those plastic beach flips!

Sperry Top-Sider Boat Shoes- Every preppy girl must own a pair of these (or three).

Converse, Chuck Taylor All Star sneakers- Nothing says Boston like a pair of white Chucks. These are perfect for a shopping trip or a casual lunch on Newbury.

What are your favorite summer shoes?
